Bird Feeder Cleaning

 Once again, we will be cleaning bird feeders. This year we ask that you bring them (limit of 3) to us by Wed., Feb. 22 and pick them up on Sat., Feb. 25 by 2:00. It is important to keep your feeders clean since decaying food can grow mold and produce toxins. Let us help keep them clean.

Robb Herbst, Master Falconer, Educator, and Friends of Philpott- Director of Education will be presenting a lecture on Raptors of Virginia. 

 Both educational, and entertaining, Mr. Herbst and his children Aviane and Wofie will present, and discuss live birds of prey featuring Lenny- the barn owl! and two of his avian friends.

Community Bird Walk and Bird Call Contest

 Sat. Feb. 18th

 9 AM

 Take a walk on the Riverwalk Trail guided by David Hoffman, photographer and bird enthusiast and Mary Foster, president of the Southside Bird Club and lifelong birder.

We will meet at the flagpole at the Community Market for the walk. Bring along cameras, binoculars and attentive ears.

Also, at Raywood at 12:00 we will play Test Your Skills with Bird Calls with approximately 15 - 20 backyard bird calls to identify. A $50 gift certificate awarded to the best bird call identifier. It should be fun!
